CHIAPAS IN FOUR DAYS
DAY ONE
Catch a flight to Tuxtla Gutierrez and make sure you arrive there before 3:00 p.m. We will pick you up at the airport and transfer you to the Grijalva River to take a boat ride through the impressive Sumidero Canyon. After the boat trip in the Canyon we will stop at Chiapa de Corzo to admire it's XVI century colonial architecture. Continue to your hotel in San Cristobal de Las Casas
DAY TWO
We devote this day to exploring the colonial city of San Cristobal, it's markets, colonial churches and the nearby Indian Villages of San Juan Chamula and Zinacantán. We have the evening at leisure to explore on your own and enjoy this charming city. Overnight in San Cristobal de Las Casas.
DAY THREE
We depart from San Cristobal in the highlands and we drive through the rugged mountainous terrain of Chiapas, admiring the changes in vegetation and weather until we arrive at Palenque. On the way to Palenque we can stop to admire the massive Maya pyramid of Toniná or the Agua Azul and Misol Ha waterfalls. Overnight in Palenque
DAY FOUR
Today we will visit one of the most beautiful archaeological sites in Mexico, Palenque. Fifteen hundred years ago, in it´s heyday it became one of the most important Maya kingdoms. Ruled by the mighty Pakal who commissioned the construction of his own pyramid tomb, unrivaled by any other archaeological discovery in America to this day. After visiting the site, transfer to the Villahermosa airport. Make sure your flight leaves Villahermosa any time after 3:00 p.m.
